Review: The Coin Laundry

Coin Laundry is located at the very beginning of Exmouth Market; the perfect welcome to this relaxed and popular street in East London. Inside, its low lighting, mahogany wooden bar and red-tinged furniture and pinball machines very much recall a seventies dive bar (complemented by the food and drink on offer). There is a relaxed approach to the place, the bar staff and waiters very friendly and with a sense of fun.

For the food and drink there is a real focus on seasonal, British ingredients. Their bar snacks include old-school classics like Chicken Kiev’s and Chips and Curry Sauce as well more unusual offerings like their Bacon-flavoured Popcorn (very moreish). Meals include Rabbit Balti Pie and Coriander Sauce as well as the more traditional Ham, Egg and Chips. They also do breakfast.

They have a wide selection of beers, wines and cocktails as well as sodastreams (very popular on the night I attended). I tried the Coin Laundry Americano, which contained Vermouth and Campari Soda 8. It was strong and very good.
