Richard Ward Haircare: Review

Richard Ward Haircare

Since we discovered that Chelsea-based hairdresser, Richard Ward was behind the bouncy blow dry of the gorgeous Kate Middleton, his popularity has soared. Richard has his own professional haircare range which is currently available from both salons and on QVC, and has recently launched a more affordable range to reach a wider market. This range is known as The Chelsea Collection and is available from Waitrose.

I have had the pleasure of trying four products from this new range: Keratin Volume Shampoo, Keratin Volume Conditioner, Keratin Smoothing Mist, Keratin Bulking Spritz.

Initially, I really liked the packaging. The actual containers were easy to use and quite well made and I like how the name of each product is clearly stated. I also enjoyed the little images on the packaging as it gave them a slightly high-end feel. Each of the products smell heavenly, which I think is a really important part of haircare products – nobody wants horrid, smelly hair!

I was not impressed by the Keratin Volume Shampoo as it didn’t lather particularly well; it admittedly did the job, but put up a little fight when trying to distribute it properly. I enjoyed the Keratin Volume Conditioner much more, however, as it lathered well and left my hair feeling smooth.

After using the volume shampoo, conditioner and Bulking Spritz, my hair definitely had more volume than it normally would have done, but without looking like I had gone back-comb crazy! For a natural-looking boost, these products are for you.

The Keratin Smoothing Mist is designed to create a mirror-like shine to leave your hair looking super healthy. Whilst it added a subtle shine, I found that this Smoothing Mist was much better for reducing frizz and taming flyaways.

Aside from Richard Ward’s name all over these products, the term ‘keratin’ has been used to market these products. Keratin is known for strengthening and improving the condition of hair and is very popular in the hair industry at the moment. Keratin is used to replace the protein within hair which is usually broken down through heat damage, colour damage and simple over processing of the hair. Although these products have a lower dose of Keratin than some products they are really great for that natural boost. They do not create an over exaggerated bounce, but are perfect for everyday beautiful hair care routines.

Each product from Richard Ward’s Chelsea Collection costs £5.99 and is available from Waitrose.
