In a buzzing atmosphere, Roundhouse Rising showcases young talent and their range of workshops and courses that help progress creatives with an interest in the music industry.

It was inspiring to see a welcoming community in what can sometimes feel like a competitive and saturated scene, and refreshing to find free/affordable access to invaluable advice and information from industry professionals.

The majority of the events were free and ran throughout the day including: Songwriting workshops, DJ drop-ins, Demo surgeries, Live Jam drop-in’s, Spinnup Demos and live performances from resident musicians.

For £5 you could attend panel discussions and workshops which gave insight into the industry and opportunities to have burning questions answered:

– Build your own presskit workshop
– DIY marketing workshop
– Meet the managers – panel
– Meet the promotors – panel
– Make Music: Need Money – panel

Dynamic performances from Idiki and Tom Vevers left me feeling excited for the future of music and were perfect showcases of the Roundhouse’s vision. They even gave out free CD’s with 12 of their featured resident artists (I couldn’t resist and took about three).

The Roundhouse helps 3000 young creatives between the ages of 11-25 years old every year, so If you are a budding young musician make sure Roundhouse Rising 2017 is in your diary and check out www.roundhouse.org.uk/young-creatives!
