SALON64 Review

SALON64 located in the hub of Soho, isn’t your average hair salon, in fact you’d be forgiven for walking in and ordering a negroni rather than a hair treatment. As you enter you are immediately greeted with stylish and eye-catching fully stocked bar. This salon is high-end and it’s equipped with little luxuries to make your visit as stylish and comfortable as it can be, thanks to the founder and celebrity hair stylist Ricky Walters.

Ever since lockdown, I’ve been craving a professional to trim my locks. Most hair salons opened in July, but cautious about the safety of entering a salon, I was pretty hesitant to book my first appointment. A month later and feeling confident in the SALON64 safety measures I decide to take the plunge.

I received a warm welcome at reception, had a quick and re-assuring temperature check along with a generous squirt of hand sanitiser. Ricky met me at reception and gave me the grand tour of the salon. I particularly liked the downstairs area, with smooth and sleek white table tops, you will even find a separate room in case you prefer more of a private experience (however this does need to be booked in advance with an additional fee). You will also find salon’s colour lab, where all your dream hair colour treatments are created.

Once seated upstairs, which is equally as glamorous with its sleek white tops, I was shown the styling station, which opens up like a home dressing table, it reveals a large mirror, compartments to place your make-up and jewellery, a space for your beverage and charging docks. After getting my hair cut in a salon, I normally head to the bathroom to top up my make-up, but at SALON64 you can continue to sit in the big comfy seat and use the styling station to top up your make-up in comfort. A big tick in my books (and most ladies I would think).

One of the things that caught my attention was how far apart the seats were, designed to give customers a luxury experience with a large styling station to themselves. Since the salon opened in July they have installed protective screens to create a barrier between customers, the stylists wear protective masks and there is hand sanitiser at each styling station.

I had my hair cut by Ricky, who instantly put me at ease with his friendly manor, my ends are pretty dry and brittle due to many years of hair colour treatments. Wanting to keep some of the blond at the bottom of my hair Ricky reassures me that he won’t cut off too much. After my hair is shampooed and conditioned I am whizzed back into my chair where true to his word, Ricky swiftly removes my dry ends, adds some layers and before you know it my hair is ready for a blow dry.

After blow drying my hair, Ricky gives my hair a little bounce, by creating loose waves, I always dry my hair straight, so it was nice to have a change, my hair looked silky and nourished. Bye bye split ends and hello glossy wavy hair!

The salon turns into a bar in the evenings, and is opened to members only, but I’ll let you into a little secret, if you are a customer of SALON64 you can get the exclusive membership.

They are taking bookings now, so don’t delay and get stuck on the waiting list, if its luxury and style you are after with a talented hairstylist, look no further!
