Sekforde Mixer Review

Sekforde Range in Wall Basket   Frustrated by the majority of mixers on the market being full of sugar, London-based husband and wife team Tom and Talula White, created Sekforde botanical mixers. These new, natural, botanical mixers are specifically designed for whiskey, rum and gin. Each one of the three mixers has been designed to enhance the flavour of the spirit without overpowering it.  Co-founder Talula White says: “Our taste trials show that people welcome new ways to enjoy dark spirits, especially with interesting botanical flavours rather than being drowned in sugary cola or ginger beer”.

Sekforde Gin Lay Shot Sage and Grapefruit Hi-Ball

I was sent all three flavours of Sekforde to try, though I’ve only tried the Gin mixer. Gin is my main drink of choice, so it isn’t hard to see why. Sekforde for Gin has English Garden botanicals with a hint of Raspberry. The Gin is made even better with this mixer. It was definitely a pleasant change from the typical G&T. The Recommended Serve is over ice, with a twist of grapefruit and a rosemary or sage sprig. I tried this with Thomas Dakin Gin and it was delicious. I’m looking forward to buying more and trying it with my Silent Pool Gin and G’Vine Gin as well.

On my to-drink-list is the Sekforde for Rum. This mixer provides aromatic lime and Mistral botanicals and was created to enhance the flavour of Rum. The recommended serve is in a tumbler or copa glass with ice and a twist of lime peel and mint sprig. Recommended Rum brands: Havana Club, Westerhall Rums, Ron Barceló Imperial, Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva.  Unfortunately I didn’t have any Rum so I couldn’t try this, but it is Rum Fest on the 14th and 15th of October. So I’ll have my chance soon.

Sekforde Whisky Lay Shot Orange and Rosemary Hi-Ball

Last but not least is the Sekforde for Whiskey. I’m not a big whisky drinking but this mixer is said to provide a delicate orange and Istrian botanicals to the mixer.  The sweet orange flavour and hint of rosemary include  a combination of dry bitters. For the recommended serve the drink in a tumbler or copa glass with ice and a twist of orange peel and a spring of rosemary. Recommended  spirits include Chivas Regal 12 yr old, Bulleit Bourbon or Rye, Buffalo Trace, Monkey Shoulder.
