Suntory Chita Terrace at ROKA – Canary Wharf

ROKA Canary Wharf has collaborated with Suntory Japanese Whisky in creating a stunning Japanese roof terrace, which opened in June this year.

The terrace celebrated the launch of The Chita Single Grain Whisky, featuring a menu of three bespoke Chita cocktails:
1. Tokai Highball, Suntory Chita Single Grain Whisky, coconut, cherry leaf tincture, sweet corn shoot, soda
2. Chita Cooler, Suntory Chita Single Grain Whisky, mango, yuzu, basil, lime foam
3. Red Gold Hook, Suntory Chita Single Grain Whisky, plum sake, red vermouth, saffron distillate, umeboshi

The Suntory Chita Terrace is a real treat, sitting high above street level, it certainly does feel like you have been transported into a charming Japanese garden, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, all this and great atmosphere, it’s certainly the place to be! The first thing we did when we arrived was have a drink recommended by our waiter which was the lychee blossom, the combination of the prosecco, lychee and kombu cordial, worked perfectly, creating a sweet and charming cocktail. Aperol lovers, you will want to opt for the Suika spritz, containing watermelon liqueur, aperol and white wine, this was certainly one of my favourites! However the icing on the cake was the Okinawa Colada cocktail, another sweet favourite, containing rum, pineapple, coconut and matcha and lime slushy.

Bar snacks followed shortly after, Roka is known for serving some of the best contemporary Japanese robatayaki cuisine and I must certainly agree on this. Although we didn’t dine in the restaurant, the bar snacks gave us just the right taster to blow away our taste-buds. Now if there is one thing you must try on the menu it’s the black cod, crab and crayfish dumplings (gindara to kani no gyoza) soft, bursting with flavour and dam right delicious!

Open daily: Monday to Friday – 12pm – 12am | Saturdays – 6pm – 12pm.
The terrace is open until the 5th September.
