The Folly

With lockdown eased and London in the full swing of summer, there is no better place to hang out but at the Folly’s, new pop up bar, which has been dedicated to all things pink. The ‘Rosé Retreat’ in the heart of the city, minutes from Monument and Bank Stations, has made going ‘out out’ stylish, yet fun, with a floral festooned Insta-worthy pop-up devoted to all things pink, from the lightest of Provence wines to cerise cocktails.

With The Folly in full bloom (pun intended), we had to revisit some of our favourite Drake and Morgan dishes and drinks. If you have not tried a cocktail in one of the D&M venues, then you are missing out. On arrival we sipped on the Sweet Tooth and Briar Rose cocktails. The Sweet Tooth is a mix of Roku gin, rhubarb & custard syrup, with lemon juice, rhubarb liqueur and egg whites. The Briar Rose is defo one for those who like an unusual punchy taste and consisted of Tanqueray gin, Belsazar Rose vermouth, lemon, rose water, egg white & raspberry.

No fun night out is complete without eating a good meal with friends and The Folly, provided moments of pure joy. For starters I had to try the D&M signature Chorizo Scotch Egg, its still one of my all-time favourite starters. As a main my friend opted for the naked plant burger, with pineapple ketchup, pickled onions and a tomato salad. As standards go, she found it to be an ok vegan option, but wished there was some more pizazz with the presentation. Overall she loved the trio of fries and if you haven’t tried them, what are you waiting for? The trio of fries are a combination of normal fries, sweet potato fries and roman fries topped with parmesan, truffle and rosemary. For my main I ate the roast chicken breast with soft polenta, blistered tomato and pesto. I am normally not the biggest chicken breast fan, but I was pleasantly surprised with all the flavours especially from the season polenta.

The desserts are always my favourite and you can’t have a dessert without a cheeky Espresso Martini… I was super full from my main and decided to go light and have the grilled pineapple with maple syrup, almond butter with a apple sorbet. Oh my days it was divine, I don’t think I can eat a pineapple any other way again. It was so delicious, and the sorbet perfectly matched the sharp and warm flavour produced by the pineapple. My friend ate the cinnamon doughnuts with pimms, no.6 strawberry jam & chocolate sauce, if you love warm yummy doughnuts, then this is defo for you. We ended our meal on a high.

If you are looking for a great night out for a date, with friends or just a cool place to hangout then The Folly is for you. The beautiful décor, friendly staff and comforting grub give you the ultimate summer feel.
