The Mayfair Chippy Review
I love fish and chips, but don’t think I’ve ever been to a fancy fish and chip restaurant; so I was very intrigued by The Mayfair Chippy.
The Mayfair Chippy has two branches: one in Mayfair (obvs) and one in Knightsbridge, which we visited on a Sunday lunchtime. The restaurant had a really nice buzz and I loved the decor and the tiled tables.
I can’t say I’ve ever had a cocktail with my takeaway fish and chips before, so treated myself to a Gin Sour and my friend had a Bloody Mary from their Bloody Mary menu. Their cocktail and wine offering was more extensive than I expected!
They also had a series of delicious starters, so we shared the Crispy Oyster Mushrooms (with a delicious but strong black garlic and truffle mayo) and the Kedgeree Scotch Egg. As I don’t eat pork, I’ve always felt a bit like I’m missing out when it comes to Scotch Eggs, and this one made up for it – it was so tasty and crispy, and the fish had a really lovely flavour to it.
For mains, we all ordered the classic Haddock and Chips, which was served with mushy peas, tartar sauce and a choice of either gravy or curry sauce. The mains were perfectly cooked and the batter on the fish was really light. The portions were really generous and I even had enough to take home!
Another thing I loved about the restaurant was that they offer mini desserts! As you know, by dessert time I’m usually full to the brim, so I was excited to see that they offer mini desserts on their menu. So I had to go for one….we shared a Chocolate Mousse and Lemon Tart, both of which were a nice sweet treat at the end of a lovely meal.
On Valentine’s Day, The Mayfair Chippy is also offering a standout dining experience – a meal in their loved-up Lobster Pot booth, as well as a range of delicious Valentine’s specials.
The intimate Lobster Pot Booth will be sport nautical nets, dangling gold lobsters and bespoke napkins – available for couples to pre-book from 13th to 15th Feb at The Mayfair Chippy Knightsbridge.
Specials include the Lobster Pie for two and Afternoon Sea – available at both Mayfair and Knightsbridge locations.
So whether you’re looking for somewhere to go with a group of friends, a date or just because you’re craving fish and chips, I’d highly recommend The Mayfair Chippy!
