The Ultimate Christmas Shopping Sunday Roast

Elondi Restaurant, Bar & Terrace offers great roast cuts and refuge from Christmas shoppers at Westfield Stratford.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and if you’re anything like myself, you want to get that Christmas shopping over and done with! An ideal one stop shop is the magnificent Westfield Stratford City shopping centre – offering high street, designer and boutique shopping with all your favourite labels and brands.

Best to avoid on a Saturday, the Sunday crowd is much lighter, and perhaps best of all, you can also indulge in a truly delicious Sunday roast at Elondi Restaurant, Bar & Terrace. Nestled in the Hyatt Regency Hotel, you will find this sprawling and modern restaurant, with cosy banquette seating, and an impressive terrace area – ideal for all-weather dining.

The interior draws inspiration from the golden age of travel, providing a contemporary and welcoming ambiance that invites guests to relax and unwind. In terms of menu, it is short and succinct, which I like from a Sunday menu. Priced at just £30.00 for two courses or £40.00 for three – an absolute steal – starters include Game Terrine with Cranberry & Apricot; Roast Garlic Wild Mushroom & Sage Soup and Salmon Paupiette – the latter is served with a fennel salad and is fresh, delicious and generous!

Main course options include a delightful Pork Belly Medallion with Pork Crackling & Cider Gravy; Slow Cooked Beef Short Ribs with Guinness Gravy and a Roast Leg Lamb served with Lamb Gravy & Mint Sauce. It was hard to choose as they all looked so delicious but the Guinness gravy on the slow cooked beef short rib was sensational, and the meat simply fell apart.

Dessert options included a Vanilla Cheesecake or Apple Crumble. It was a cold, frosty day when we visited, so we simply had to opt for the latter which was beautifully presented, rich and filling. All in all, it was a perfect Sunday roast, at such a reasonable price, on the doorstep of some of London’s best shops – it really doesn’t get much better for your festive shopping needs.

After lunch, you can also have a stroll around the famously lively walkways of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and get some fresh air to walk off some of that delicious food. Or simply stay a little longer at Elondi and enjoy one of the fabulous and expertly-mixed cocktails. The Espresso Martini will put an extra spring in your step to battle the afternoon shoppers with style.
