Top five city breaks for weekend getaways

We all love an escape and Stansted Express have decided to help us out with these five European city breaks – all with just a few hours travel time.Stansted Express allows travelers to get to Stansted Airport from London in just 47 minutes. This helps us as it doesn’t add to our travel time and allows us to get the most out of our travel destinations!

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon has been 2017’s most popular destination and it’s not hard to see why. Incredible street art, bright yellow trams that rattle throughout the city and the charming neighbourhoods of Martim Moniz and Mouraria. Expect great food and live music along side historal sights such as the Jerónimos Monastery and Livraria Bertrand – the oldest bookstore in the world. Flight time approximately two hours and 30 minutes direct from London Stansted to Lisbon Portela Airport.

Kraków, Poland

Kraków is Poland’s unofficial capital of culture and it’s an absolutely gorgeous place to visit. Kazimierz has plenty of beatnik bars and cool cafes to visit. Also the Old Town has been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is pretty impressive if you ask us.. Flight time approximately three hours and 40 minutes direct from London Stansted to John Paul II International Airport Kraków – Balice.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is Britain’s most popular citybreak for Londoners. It’s not hard to see why with elaborate and elegant canal systems, picturesque narrow houses with gabled facades and a historical heritage dating back to the 17th Century Golden Age, We can’t wait to explore the city on a bicycle,before visiting the Stedelijk museum. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is full of Gothic architecture and has been nicknamed ‘the City of a Hundred Spires’ and displaying spectacular gothic architecture. This really is the best place for a weekend getaway and is on ONIN.London’s bucket list. Stansted recommends visiting the Jewish Quarter, Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral for cultural revelations before enjoying a beer in one of the city’s famous garden bars. Flights take approximately two hours and 15 minutes from London Stansted to Václav Havel Airport Prague.

 Rome, Italy

Rome, a favourite city of ours is a sprawling cosmopolitan destination with nearly 3,000 years of art, culture and architecture. You can get lost wandering around the city exploring the wonders left behind by the Roman Empire in the form of the ancient ruins of the Pantheon and Colosseum. A visit to Rome wouldn’t be the same without visiting St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museum. Make sure you finish your day visiting the Piazza Navona. Flight time approximately two hours 45 minutes from London Stansted to Rome Fiumicino.
