TRAVELLING GREEN? PACK YOUR ECO-FRIENDLY TOOTHBRUSH

As the world is opening up again and summer is just around the corner, many of us are planning a long-awaited getaway. According to a recent survey, 57% of British adults are planning an oversees holiday this year, a huge 46% jump on numbers in 2021* with a further 45% staying closer to home and booking an increasingly popular staycation.

Holiday planning includes another consideration for the 2022 traveller – how to travel “greener”. While there are the obvious big things like considering our mode of transport, there are lots of small changes we can all make to take care of the planet while we’re enjoying exploring it.

So what is the first thing you pack when you dust off the suitcase or the overnight bag? While most of us immediately think of what we will wear and the sun lotion for that all-important holiday tan, here are some eco-friendly ideas that will make a surprising difference when planning your earth-conscious holiday.

Pack reusable face cloths and wipes to greatly reduce waste
Think rail travel over the plane – trains emit 80% less carbon dioxide than airplanes
Pick destinations/hotels that are making a conscious effort to care for the planet
Take a refillable bottle to avoid buying plastic water bottles
Where possible, hire a bike or scooter instead of car or taxi
Go eco-friendly with your toiletries including your dental product

Previously, there has been limited eco-friendly options when it comes to selecting dental care products, with their notorious high plastic content. But following the launch of DenTek’s eco range, it’s now possible to make choices that are both good for your oral hygiene and for the planet. DenTek are on a mission to source the most sustainable materials possible to create their oral hygiene products and transform their entire range from single-use plastic.

DenTek’s newly launched interdental brushes have been made using Birch Wood, which creates less waste and uses less energy in the manufacturing process, even more than rival eco materials such as bamboo. The wood itself absorbs less water, which means the wire brush won’t split from the handle when used in the bathroom environment. The handle itself is also recyclable. DenTek also plant more trees than they use and because birch is a climate-positive material, the trees work to reduce additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

They are also minty fresh so perfect to helping your breath and smile stay great!

Jennifer Hudson, Senior Brand Manager at DenTek says, “Going green is one of the most important steps brands can take at the moment. More and more consumers are considering the ecological impact of their purchasing choices and are looking to brands to show the same consideration. Our customers should not be forced to choose between the health of their teeth or the health of the planet.

DenTek are also using a bio-resin made from sugar cane plants to manufacture their Eco Cross Flosser, Triple Clean and Triple Clean floss pick products. Using this renewable material reduces carbon emissions by up to 80% when compared to plastic creation. All outer packaging across the eco range will be 100% recyclable.

So when you’re packing for your next escape to the sun or culture-filled city break, remember to “think green” and pack your earth-friendly dental products – protecting your smile for capturing all those holiday memories!
