TREEDOM – THE ECO-FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE GIFT THIS CHRISTMAS

60% OF MILLENNIALS & GEN-Z ARE DRIVING NEW HOLIDAY TREND FOR SUSTAINABLE CHRISTMASES, SURVEY SHOWS

New research commissioned by Treedom has revealed the latest Christmas trend shaping how Brits will be spending the holiday season.

The findings, conducted by the online tree gifting platform, revealed that 60% of Millennials (24-35 year olds) and Gen Z (16-24 year olds) will this year take a different approach to the festivities by going above and beyond to ensure the season is eco-friendly.

Furthermore, the research conducted by the online tree-planting platform also indicated that this shift comes as a direct result of Brits being impacted by recent environmental events, with 2 in 5 (42%) noting it as a key factor in their decision to relook at how they celebrate the festivities this December. Again, it’s the younger generations who are leading the charge with the new approach – half (50%) of the Millennial and Generation Z age ranges stated environmental events such as the Australian Wildfires having a direct impact on how they were planning their Christmas.

Treedom’s eco-friendly approach to the holiday season won’t end there however, over 25 million Brits will also be cutting back their consumption by sending friends and relatives online experiences this year, with in-person experiences still uncertain to go ahead due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Following new research, a top ten list of eco-friendly changes has been put together ahead of the Christmas season:

  1. Using fabric shopping bags
  2. Stopped using plastic straws
  3. Consuming less meat
  4. Shopping at local independent stores
  5. Using a Keep Cup or other reusable coffee cup
  6. Using compostable bin bags
  7. Buying a metal water bottle
  8. Using reusable face towels
  9. Using silicone baking mats
  10. Picking up bare bar soap for washing
