Van Hunks Sparkling Mead Review

This January I was sent a bottle of Sparkling Rosè Mead and having never tried mead before it was something that really excited about trying.
2021 is the time to try new things and experiment. We believe that Van Hunks Sparkling Mead is the perfect way to celebrate the start of new beginnings for these three reasons:
1) Modern Approach to Mead: Van Hunks has taken a fresh approach to the mead category and created a Brut and a Rosé Sparkling Mead to appeal to Champagne and Prosecco fanatics. Van Hunks is one of the only producers in the world to have successfully achieved a consistently high quality bottle-fermented mead from its base at the foot of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. The meads are produced using honey from honeybees, which feast on Fynbos wildflowers in the smallest floral kingdom in the world on South Africa’s Cape.
2) All Natural Ingredients: Van Hunks offers a deliciously dry, all natural alternative to Sparkling Wine made from only three ingredients and designed for those whose palates have matured away from sugary-sweet drinks. Presented in a stunning glass bottle with a champeinoise-style cork, Van Hunks is a captivating drink designed to turn ordinary moments into ones of adventure.
3) Captivating Story: The beauty of Van Hunks Sparkling Mead not only lies in the beautiful bottle design and delicious taste, but also in the unique story which inspired the brand, making for an interesting story to add some sparkle to any dinner table conversation or zoom drinks party!
The small-batch sparkling mead is inspired by the legend, Jan Van Hunks who was notorious for escaping the ordinary and had a keen imagination and tenacious spirit. Pipe packed and drink in hand, he would stroll through the Fynbos and scale the sandstone mountain cliffs in search of the perfect perch and contemplate the beauty of it all. The story goes that he out-witted the devil in a smoking competition, but not before the smoke that they had made had covered the mountain, forming the famous tablecloth cloud on Table Mountain. In truth, the tablecloth cloud is created by the warm south-easterly breeze rising up the mountain slopes, meeting colder air at higher altitude. Condensation takes place and a thick mist soon coats the upper-most regions of the mountain, which waters the flowers Van Hunks’ bees feast on.
We loved the taste of Van Hunks Rosè and were even more excited that the bottle we were sent came with a cute face mask. Van Hunks went extremely well with our meal and was a delicious change to our regular evening glass of wine. So if you’re looking to up your game and impress your housemates or (virtual) guests… check out Van Hunks
