Wedge Pizza: The healthiest pizza we’ve ever had!

Based in one of my favourite parts of London, East London’s Clerkenwell is filled with incredible restaurants. It’s a mixture between a city and neighbourhood-like area, and it was so nice being able to unwind and kick back after a hustle and bustle from leaving work in Oxford Circus, only a short bus ride away.

My guest and I were greeted upon arrival by smiley faces of hard-working waiters and waitresses, and just behind them in the kitchen, were the artists! I call them artists rather than chefs, as they weren’t just making a pizza, they were creating it from scratch! Right in front of our eyes. From the kneading of the dough, flattening it, adding cheese, with other desired toppings before placing them in the stone baked oven.

The menu was so broad; there was so much choice – from vegetables, to meat, and more. I didn’t hold back with my choices, especially being a massive veggie and meat lover!

My chosen base was the original neapolitan with a tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, olives, rocket, mushrooms, roasted garlic, caramelised onions, sun dried tomatoes, chorizo, chiken, beef meatballs, and more garlic! I thoroughly enjoyed. A part of me feared feeling too ‘slumped’ and tired after, but I felt the complete opposite. It was such a nutritious meal that left me feeling energised! And our lovely waiter Darren explained why:

“There is absolutely nothing artificial added to your pizzas, we use the most simplest of ingredients including yeast, flour, and water.”

I’m not much of a spice lover either, so our lovely waitress Martha suggested the best meats and vegetables to go with it.

My guest Sam also made a note about Wedge Issue: “The service was very punctual and the wait for food was only 5 to 10 minutes. It was nice being able to experiment and mix the ingredients which made the meal even more delicious.”

I would visit Wedge Issue on several occasions; date night, a nice evening with family, friends, and colleagues. I hopped on my bus home after the best pizza experience in a while and became appreciative of the fact that I’m still experiencing more and more gorgeous places to eat and enjoy in London.

I didn’t try any of the beer due to fear of having a pop belly, but I had such a fab evening overall thanks to the lovely staff and food.
