Who Did It? The Lucky Pig Cocktail Bar Invites Guests Into a Glamorous 1940s Whodunnit
This March, Fitzrovia’s beloved speakeasy, The Lucky Pig Cocktail Bar, invites guests into the smoky underworld of 1940s Soho for an evening of theatrical intrigue and mystery.
On Friday 20th March from 7pm to late, The Lucky Pig will host its latest immersive Murder Mystery event, “The Soho Strangler”, where attendees become part of the unfolding story. Set inside a jazz-filled bar where secrets are whispered and shadows linger, guests will be challenged to solve a chilling case that has unsettled the neighbourhood. Throughout the night, you’ll question suspicious characters, uncover hidden motives and piece together clues over cocktails. Live music sets the scene early on, before DJs take over until 2am for those who want to keep the celebrations going long after the case is cracked.

My friend and I attended The Lucky Pig’s first murder mystery back in November. We were handed fact sheets detailing each suspect’s backstory, and encouraged to mingle, hypothesise, and interrogate the characters. Our tip: lean into the detective role – every conversation could reveal a vital clue, and every character may be hiding something. Dressing up in 1940s attire is encouraged (but not required). We turned up in 1920s outfits last time and loved seeing everyone’s costumes; it really helps you get into character and makes the night feel more immersive.
The Lucky Pig has been open for 15 years, but it’s a recent discovery for us at ONIN and is quickly becoming a firm favourite. I’m still charmed by the decor even after four visits. Each time I go m, I learn something new about the venue and its inspiration. The name nods to gangster Lucky Luciano, who owned two pubs—The Blind Pig and The Blind Donkey—hence the combination. The intentionally chipped wallpaper, prohibition posters and mismatched furniture give the bar so much character. Retro lampshades cast a warm glow over semi-private seating areas and cozy alcoves with leather seating, while the wooden bar stretches invitingly along one wall. It really is a hidden gem that transports you back in time.

We’ve always enjoyed the canapés at previous events. I don’t know the exact menu for this one, but at the last murder mystery they served chicken tenders, veggie spring rolls, bruschetta, and cheese with prosciutto. At the Valentine’s Party, the canapés included halloumi and pigs in blankets. Everything has always been fresh, tasty, and well portioned.
The staff are consistently welcoming — a special shout-out to Etienne and Nevan, who are always smiling and making sure guests are comfortable.

My friend loved the last murder mystery so much she’s already bought tickets for this one and is bringing friends along. I’d have joined her in a heartbeat, but sadly I have another commitment.
Tickets are £30 and include a welcome glass of fizz, wine or beer, canapés, immersive entertainment, live music and DJs until 2am. Tickets are available Here.
