For all you novices Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November), often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Black Friday is not a holiday, but California and some other states observe “The Day After Thanksgiving” as a holiday for state government employees, sometimes in lieu of another federal holiday such as Columbus Day. The Greatest fact about this day is that many retailers offer a huge discount on many items!!!!
British shoppers will spend more than £1m every three minutes on Black Friday this year as consumers take advantage of widespread discounts.
A report by Visa Europe has forecast that £360,000 will be spent every minute, or £6,000 every second, on its cards on Black Friday. Black Friday was brought over to the UK in 2010 by Amazon and its popularity exploded last year when Asda, which is owned by Walmart, offered in-store promotions. Amazon are spoiling u sthis year and will start running promotions from 8am next Monday, November 25. It will offer “lightning deals” that will launch every 10 minutes and run while stocks last.
