Fashion Edit: Fitness wear from Boux Avenue

This week, our focus is on activewear.
The sports apparel industry has boomed in recent years, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that so many brands are launching lines dedicated to gym bunnies across the globe.
But it’s not just fitness companies that are getting in on the action – high street shops that previously didn’t focus on workout gear are also trying to nab a slice of the cake.
Point in case: Boux Avenue.
To most people, this brand is known for affordable underwear with a sexy twist, as well as swimwear and nightwear. Well would you know it, Boux Avenue actually has an activewear range called Boux Sports.
To find out if a lingerie company can make decent fitness clothes, we tried their latest collection.
It has a line-up of famous names behind it, including social media influencer Lottie Tomlinson and former Love Islander Joanna Chimonides, as well as other fitness influencers such as Ama Peters and Simone Charles – but is the quality and fit any good?
Short answer: it’s not bad.
Firstly, it’s a very inclusive range when it comes to sizing. As a woman with an E/F cup size, I always worry that the straps of tops will dig into my back and not give enough support, but the racer top not only fits nicely but is also very comfortable.
There is a strappy option too, for those who prefer that type of design – but my large chest does not.
The top is double-layered with removable padding, quick drying and feels fairly breathable on the skin.
Similarly, the jacquard textured leggings are also very comfortable; high-waisted enough not to roll down and with a tight fit that is still flattering.
And for those of you who, like me, worry about your middle section (firstly, try not to – you are beautiful as you are), I am happy to report that the leggings are snug and hold in that part of the body, which made me feel confident.
Meanwhile, the jacquard textured panels on both items add a nice touch to the overall design element.
The only negative aspect for me was the large Boux Sport branding on the back of both the top and leggings, which I would have preferred in smaller writing (or not at all) – but that is my personal style.
It’s worth bearing in mind that I did a light workout in the clothes (due to a recent ankle surgery that I’m currently recovering from), but I feel confident that the quality will hold up for a more hardcore gym session too.
And at a total price of £57 (£35 for the leggings, £22 for the top), it’s a pretty good deal.
