A Stylish City Escape at Chinnery House Apartments, Pimlico

There’s something truly magical about discovering a place that feels like it was made just for you – and that’s exactly the feeling I got stepping into Chinnery House Apartments in the heart of Pimlico. Tucked behind the much-loved Georgian House Hotel, this charming new offering combines the freedom of self-catered accommodation with the design-led comforts of a boutique hotel. From the moment we walked through the doors of our apartment, I couldn’t help but feel like Carrie Bradshaw had just landed in SW1.

The Chinnery House Apartments, now complete with five beautiful units, are housed in a lovingly restored London townhouse. You’d never guess you were only minutes from Chelsea and Belgravia – the setting is wonderfully tranquil, with leafy streets and a peaceful energy that makes it feel like your own secret city bolthole.

Each apartment is thoughtfully designed, with a “Scandi-meets-Victorian” aesthetic that’s both calming and stylish. Ours was decked out in earthy, warm-toned furnishings, which created a cocoon-like atmosphere. Soft lighting bounced off the high ceilings and original windows, while the wooden flooring and panelled detailing offered a nod to the building’s heritage. Artworks, plush throws, and the subtle scent of Urban Apothecary London toiletries completed the feeling that every detail had been lovingly considered.

It’s clear that the interiors were a passion project. Gabe von der Heyde – son of the Georgian House Hotel’s owner – designed each apartment with a unique flair. The combination of old and new is effortlessly done, and despite the vintage charm, the apartment was fully equipped with all mod-cons, including a neat kitchenette, where we cooked our own breakfast from a delivered hamper of pastries, fruit, and juice. It felt indulgent yet homely – the best kind of morning ritual.

One unexpected perk: our bedroom had no windows, and while this might not appeal to everyone, it gave us the best sleep we’ve had in months. Absolute darkness, zero street noise – it was like sleeping in a stylish, luxurious cocoon. The bed itself was supremely comfortable, and the shower? Absolutely gorgeous. Spacious, modern, and beautifully tiled, it felt like stepping into a spa, with fantastic water pressure and heavenly toiletries.

We were lucky with the weather, so we made full use of the lovely roof terrace. Sitting out under the stars with a glass of wine felt like a slice of Mediterranean holiday right in the heart of London.

And speaking of strolling – the local area is a real delight. Pimlico has always had that “if you know, you know” charm, and it didn’t disappoint. There are some brilliant restaurants and bars just a stone’s throw away. We particularly recommend The Ganymede – their Sunday roast is nothing short of perfection.

Another highlight was the Papyon App, which acts like your own in-house Deliveroo. We loved browsing the curated list of local favourites and having dishes delivered straight to our door – perfect after a long day of exploring. If you prefer, you can also pop over to the Pimlico Pantry at Georgian House Hotel for breakfast – though honestly, cooking from our breakfast hamper in our own space was such a treat, we didn’t feel the need.

Starting from £259 per night, the Chinnery House Apartments offer fantastic value for what feels like a luxury stay. With a two-night minimum, it’s ideal for weekend getaways or longer city breaks. The flexibility of having your own private space, paired with the refined design touches and thoughtful service, makes this a brilliant choice for anyone looking for a London stay that feels a little more personal.
