Benares Welcomes the World’s Oldest Fine Dining Indian Restaurant, Tiffin Room, for a Two-Day Collaboration

Benares, the celebrated Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair, are thrilled to host a remarkable culinary collaboration with the iconic Tiffin Room from Raffles Singapore, one of the oldest luxury hotels in the world and a name synonymous with excellence in hospitality.

Established in 1892, the Tiffin Room holds the distinction of being the world’s oldest fine dining Indian
restaurant, renowned for its authentic North Indian cuisine and timeless traditions that have delighted
generations of diners. Its menus are rooted in heritage yet celebrated for their enduring appeal, establishing the Tiffin Room as a timeless destination for Indian gastronomy.

Since opening in 2003, Benares has been redefining Indian cuisine in London, combining impeccably
sourced British ingredients with refined Indian techniques to create modern, memorable dishes. On
27th and 28th August, these two culinary institutions will come together for a limited-edition à la carte
menu at Benares, showcasing some of the Tiffin Room’s most iconic offerings alongside the restaurant’s own innovative approach.

The menu will feature standout dishes such as Lal Maas, an authentic dish from India’s north-western
state of Rajasthan. Lamb is cooked on a low and steady heat, enlivened with a touch of yoghurt, and
characterised by its incredibly smoky flavour and texture. Another highlight is Paneer Tikka with Morel
Mushroom, where paneer is grilled in a tandoor before being cooked in a specially prepared gravy to
further enhance its flavour. This is paired with Morel mushroom rice, cooked Kashmiri-style with
fennel, saffron milk, and traditional spices.

This exclusive collaboration promises an unforgettable dining experience that unites two culinary powerhouses and pays tribute to the timeless traditions of Indian gastronomy, while celebrating its
modern evolution. With only two days to savour this rare menu, guests are invited to immerse
themselves in an extraordinary journey of flavours, heritage, and innovation at Benares.

The special menu is available on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th August.
