London’s Best-Loved Blues Bar Brings Free Live Music to Soho This May
This May, Soho and Carnaby Street invites Londoners to kick back, soak up the sounds and let the blues roll in, with the launch of Kingly Court Presents: Open Air Blues. Following the success of Kingly Court Presents: Soho Sounds, Open Air Blues is a month-long series of free live music events hosted by legendary Soho blues bar Ain’t Nothin’ But. Launching on Saturday 2nd May, the free-to-attend live music programming will run across both May Bank Holiday weekends, right in the heart of Kingly Court.
The series launches on 2nd May for the Early May Bank Holiday weekend, with sets from Elsie Franklin (1pm and 2pm) and Chris Corcoran(3pm and 4pm) on Saturday 2nd May and Elsie Franklin (1pm and 2pm) and Remi Banklyn (3pm and 4pm) on Sunday 3rd May. With the line-up curated by London’s original Blues bar, ‘Ain’t Nothin But, entry is entirely free, allowing Londoners to enjoy relaxed afternoons of great live blues, in one of Soho’s most beloved outdoor spaces.
Kingly Court’s al-fresco courtyard will remain as much a place to eat and drink as it is to listen. Visitors can pull up a chair, order from one of the ground-floor resident restaurants and let the blues soundtrack their meal. Goldies serves smoky skewers from a wood-fired grill and twice-cooked frites, whilst ALTA brings the spirit of Spanish aperitivo culture to life. Elsewhere in Kingly Court, Donia champions Filipino sharing plates with bespoke cocktails, Imad’s Syrian Kitchen offers a warm Levantine welcome, Two Floors offers a Japanese listening bar meets classic cocktail den and Disrepute keeps the night alive until 3am in its atmospheric basement.
Joining the festivities from Monday 4th May through Friday 22nd May, Soho’s irresistibleLa Maritxu Basque Cheesecake will be hosting a special pop-up in Kingly Court with Bertotti Gelato, serving up luxurious, velvety ice creams that bring the rich, caramelised character of a classic Basque burnt cheesecake to a perfectly scooped summer treat. Flavours are set to include: Classic Basque Cheesecake, Tiramisu Cheesecake and Pistachio Cheesecake.
The Bank Holiday weekends are also the perfect excuse for those looking to shop and Soho has a host of brand-new fashion openings to explore. US Gen Z fashion brand Ediktedhas just opened its first-ever European store on Carnaby Street, whilst Franco-Japanese accessories label Topologiehas arrived on Berwick Street with its cult customisable carry system. French-Swedish menswear brand Ron Dorff has launched its new iconic Soho flagship on the same street and independent footwear label Horatiohas opened on Marshall Street with its beautifully crafted loafers and laced shoes.
Between the live blues, limited edition ice cream, plethora of dining options for all occasions and the latest fashion openings, there’s never been a better reason to spend the Bank Holiday in Soho.
