Puttshack Review

Puttshack has levelled up. The tech‑infused mini golf brand has launched Puttcade, a brand‑new screen‑based gaming experience, alongside a refreshed food and drink menu — and we went down to the Bank venue to try it all.

Puttcade is essentially mini golf reimagined for the digital age. Instead of putting towards a physical hole, you aim at a giant screen where visuals, targets and rules change depending on which of the nine games you choose. We tried every single one — purely for research, of course — and quickly learned two things:

  1. Many games are about hitting a target (balloons, brick walls, you name it).
  2. We both panic when trivia is involved.

There were moments where we knew the correct answer but the ball went in the complete opposite direction. We’re blaming the ball, not our ability. Despite this, we somehow topped the leaderboard that night. Pure talent!

The Bank venue has four themed courses (emerald, sapphire, ruby etc.). We visited on a Tuesday and didn’t queue at all, which meant we could take our time across all nine holes. Puttshack’s signature Trackball technology means you never have to keep score — the system does it all for you, leaving you free to focus on the fun.

We enjoyed seeing the different themes of each hole. There’s one that’s a hazard site with ropes and warning signs, a snooker-table style hole, and a fairground style game. We had greatvfun at the beer pong hole- it taps straight into that uni‑night‑out muscle memory, but with a golf ball instead of a ping‑pong ball. We also liked the Wheel of Fortune hole— we almost won a free game twice! (Again, we blame ball!).

The updated menu genuinely has something for everyone, from wings to 18‑hour fermented sourdough pizzas to shareable small plates. We tried:

  • Mac ’n’ cheese bites with aioli- Golden on the outside with a creamy centre, they’re   comfort food in bite form.
  • Pepperoni pizza- A classic option with a good balance of cheese and pepperoni.
  • Smoked paprika corn ribs with sriracha coconut yoghurt
  • Polish Boy street dog with smoked pork sausage, sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup
  • Chicken tinga tacos (chipotle chicken, onion, coriander, lime). These were my favourite — flavourful, fresh and they really hit the spot.
  • New York cheesecake with salted toffee popcorn crunch- my favourite of the night. The popcorn crunch is a great touch.

For drinks, there’s plenty of cocktails, low or no cool options, milkshakes, slushies and smoothies. Some cocktails are served in fun, playful ways — the rum punch comes with a syringe of rum, and Angela’s Abuela arrives in a silver disco‑ball‑style glass. Both the Cucumber Cooler and the Orange Marmalade are great no‑alcohol options — cool, refreshing and ideal if you want something light without missing out on flavour.

We couldn’t resist the 6 Holes Challenge (£31) — a tasting flight of Tommy’s Margarita, Paloma, Cosmopolitan, Raspberry Daiquiri, Hugo Spritz and a surprise final drink. It’s a brilliant way to sample the menu and definitely one to share.

The Bank venue is spacious, lively and well‑organised. Even with several private events happening, there was still room for walk‑ins. Staff were friendly, the vibe was upbeat, and the layout makes it easy to move between courses, the bar and the Puttcade bays. Located just a few minutes’ walk from Bank Station, it’s incredibly central and easy to reach.

Puttshack Bank is ideal for: family outings, mates nights, date nights and work celebrations. Between the new Puttcade games, the refreshed menu and the always‑fun mini golf courses, it’s a brilliant spot for competitive fun and good food.
