Absurd Bird Review
Absurd Bird is a trendy new bar which opened up on Commercial Street London in March this year. Since then they have expanded to several other locations throughout London with their 4th opening up in a few weeks. I can understand why they have had such success so early on.
The chic upstairs restaurant is a great place to dine and enjoy a few drinks with friends. Offering delicious comfort food of the American South. Or why not venture downstairs to their more discreet speakeasy basement bar. Here you feel like VIP walking through draped curtains, with the lighting dimmed low, booths with velvet cushioning, adding to the secretive allure of the place. True prohibition style.
You can’t go wrong with the drinks menu and extensive cocktail list, which also offers many moonshine varieties and all for affordable price, averaging £8. A must try on their limited addition list is the Spiced Hot Chocolate (although it wasn’t hot) it definitely gives the feel of ‘Christmas in a glass.’
The staff always have a genuine smile on their face and are happy to have a chat with their customers, which generates an easy-going, friendly atmosphere. The cocktail waitress was impressive to observe as she was able to whip up one of their signature drinks in no time at all.
Absurd Bird has a variety of tunes playing throughout the venue. Before the DJ appeared, we listened to a number of classics as well as some of today’s popular artists. DJ Marky B gave a different vibe to the club playing house music mixed with southern and Motown influences. I did personally prefer the older style music, I felt it added to the ambiance of the place more.
The laid back atmosphere of the club can sometimes mean you will find yourself sliding further back into a state of relaxation in the comfy booths enjoying a bevvy, listening to the good vibes and appreciating the bars surrounding. It is a definitely a must do night out in London. But before you leave, you have to take on their house spiced popcorn, it will become your new addiction!
