Sparkling Sundays- High Chai

We love great food and Prosecco at ONIN London so headed down to Cinnamon Soho to sample what was on offer. The brunch menu has an array of food that can be selected, you will be spoilt for choice and whether you like super spicy food or want something tamer your taste buds are accounted for. The brunch Cinnamon-style features traditional fluffy parathas filled with an array of delectable delicacies such as Bollyflower Cheese (cauliflower, Keene’s cheddar) and Keema (smoky spiced minced lamb). Those looking for something heartier can choose from Anglo-Indian kedgeree finished with fiery green chilli; Kerala style boatman haddock curry; and Lucknow chicken biryani.

We kicked off our dining experience with Parathas, which is a Cinnamon Soho specialty of delicious warm flat breads stuffed with various fillings. We opted to try the Aloo filled Parathas, which is potato with a hint of chilli, and the Keema Parathas, which is smoky spiced minced lamb. The Parathas are served with pickle and pomegranate raita perfect for dipping. If our food options stopped there we would have been happy, the Parathas were so tasty, the flavours just explode in your mouth and they are so moreish. We then opted to try the Soho plates and we were in food heaven at this point. I tried the Chettinad spiced grilled lamb fillets in curry leaf-lime salt with a side dish of pilau rice. If you can find a curried lamb cooked so tenderly, I will eat my hat! The lamb was literally melt in the mouth and was seasoned to perfection; to be fair I did not need the rice the lamb was so good. My friend ate the Tanjore style grilled king prawns with spinach porial (fancy talk for spinach to die for) and she teamed this up with the Masala mash. The prawns were huge!! Absolutely huge and tasted divine, there were no complaints coming from the other side of the table. My friend might I add does not love Indian food and she said that the food at Cinnamon has converted her, she now knows what food done well tastes like.

The Big Veggie Kitche Mash Up

For desserts we opted for the pistachio kulfi on a stick, this is like a creamy ice cream and was lovely. We also tried the Malabar plum cake with cinnamon ice cream; the plum cake was out of this world. It was warm and not too sweet and paired with the ice cream was like having little dancing trolls on our tongue. I would suggest opt for the Malabar cake, the kulfi was good but could not be compared to the cake.

We got to indulge in some Mimosas to wash down our brunch, its always great when the bar man keeps your glass full and was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Get down there and try it yourself, we highly recommend it at ONIN London.
