Boux Avenue Activewear: Is the new fitness line really ‘squat proof’?

If you think Boux Avenue only designs saucy lingerie, you’re sorely mistaken.

The brand has expanded into the ever-growing activewear market and released its second range at the start of the year.

This new line features 30 items as part of the SS19 collection and are all made from a breathable, lightweight fabric of 100% recycled polyester.

A range of styles is available in leggings, long-sleeved tops, crop tops and vests, from space-inspired galaxy designs to animal and palm prints, as well as a classic black choice for minimalists (our personal favourite).

ON IN London tested the durability, quality and fit to find out if the fitness wear truly is as it claims to be – ‘squat proof’.

Dressed in the 4-way stretch crop top and leggings, with discreet but stylish sheer mesh panels on the side of the leg, we hit the gym.

The Fit

Firstly, the crop top – it’s a little difficult to get on if you have a larger cup size, however once in place it firmly hugs the breasts and keeps them there while you’re jogging.

It’s a big plus in our books, as a loosely fitted sports bra can end up being very painful for your chest post-workout, and many other brands fail in this area.

As for the leggings, they’re a bit too snug, but otherwise comfortable with a high waist that stays in place.

The Quality and Price

The crop top is excellent value for money at £20.

It has a special compressive fabric that aids muscle recovery, which only adds to its appeal. Machine-washable and easy to take care of.

The leggings are a little pricier at £30, but then again, most good activewear (that’ll last beyond a few uses) is.

While designed to ‘lift and sculpt’, which the leggings definitely do, the mesh panels feel a bit on the cheaper side in regards to material (but then again, mesh usually does).

BUT are they squat proof?

In the name of research, we squatted and squatted and squatted, and sure enough, the leggings stayed in place.

Stretching – same thing.

Running – same thing.

The leggings didn’t budge, and we have to agree that Boux Avenue really has succeeded in its mission.

If you fancy getting your own set, you’re in luck as the range is currently on sale with most items 40% off.
