Bunga Bunga ‘Kara-soaky’ Brunch Experience Review

Last Saturday, I finally got to experience the booziness that is Bunga Bunga as it return to the original Battersea home. We were there to enjoy  Kara-soaky’ – an original singing in the shower karaoke experience. If you’re like me, you love a Karaoke night… it doesn’t matter if you can’t sing the fun is in the atmosphere and the audience singing along with you. Well with Covid-19, Karaoke was an unexpected casualty of the new Covid-secure measures in bars, pubs and restaurants, which meant Bunga had to pull the plug on its legendary sing-along brunches and karaoke nights.

But in true Bunga Bunga fashion, they have sorted this problem by offering karaoke with full Covid-safety standards by quite literally, putting guests inside a shower to sing! Each cubicle has a spotlight and shower head neatly fitted with a microphone. The shower head comes with fresh disposable covers, and the cubicle is thoroughly sanitised after each performance. Staff were on point ensuring that all sanitisation took place in a quick and safe manner. It was pretty impressive and was made part of the show.

Upon walking into the bar, checks were taken and we were transported to an Instagrammable Italian bathroom, complete bathroom props, including loofahs, rubber ducks and even mini bathtub drinking vessels. The tables were separated by see-through shower curtains to create distinct ‘bathroom bubbles’ for each party. Retro telephones have also been installed at each table to allow communication between parties and provide a direct line to the Kara-soaky host for song requests, to prevent the physical bursting of bubbles. We were sitting at the bar which was also decked out in a cute rubber duck shower curtain to separate us from the bar and gave us an unclose view of the karaoke action.

During the 90 minutes of bottomless Prosecco… staff were very generous and ensured that our drinks were never empty which was super great. But it’s the food which really shines. Bunga Bunga offer three options, meat eaters, Vegan/Veggie and Gluten Free so whatever your dietary requirements you are covered.

Our starters consisted of Italian Breakfast Frittata, Borlotti Beans, heritage tomatoes and rocket salad and freshly baked Oregano & Garlic Focaccia. It was so tasty and fresh. The greatest start to our three course brunch and really set the scene for the rest of our meal.

I chose the Roman Sausage Party for my pizza as my friend opted for the gluten free menu, so it was lovely that they were able to cater for both our preferences. Bunga Bunga is known for it’s footlong pizza so you won’t be disappointed at all. Dessert consisted of doughnuts with Nutella for me and a gluten free brownie for my friend. The perfect light but rich ending to a delicious meal.

We had an absolute blast during our time at Bunga Bunga and it really is one of the best bottomless brunches in London. From the music, the staff, the food and the drinks… Bunga Bunga can do no wrong!
