CHRISTMAS TIME AT 100 QUEEN’S GATE HOTEL

We arrived on 10th December 2022 for an indulgent girls weekend to really see how they are welcoming guests this Christmas season in the heart of South Kensington this season.
We started our stay with a delightful Festive Afternoon Tea on the ground floor in the Botanica. An elegant glass atrium usually adorned with cherry blossom and lavish greeneries, but this Christmas adjourned with beautiful Christmas Trees. Afternoon tea was a dream and washed down with Champagne, makes the perfect way to spend the day.
If Afternoon Tea isn’t your thing… Executive Head Chef, Sofiane Kaced, has created a sumptuous set of menus options that will undoubtedly satisfy all taste palates. Ideal for both private and larger parties, a special Festive Set Menu offers a lavishly curated four-course menu, priced at £95 per person and including a welcome glass of Prosecco and a final course of mince pies, teas and coffees. Ideal for private and larger parties.
Guests can enjoy starters including:
- Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with truffle toast (VE)
- Citrus-Cured Smoked Salmon with gravlax and sturia caviar
- Beetroot Carpaccio with goats cheese mousse and pine nuts (V)
Indulgent main courses include:
- Traditional Roast Turkey with pigs in blankets and all the trimmings
- Spinach, Mushroom and Butternut Squash Pithivier with tarragon cream (V)
- Poached Trout and Crushed Potatoes with white balsamic and lemon sauce
- Grilled Cauliflower with crispy kale, pomegranate molasses, figs, dates and chimichurri (VE)
Diners can the satisfy their sweet tooth with delectable Christmas desserts including:
- Traditional Christmas Pudding
- Chocolate Fondant with salted caramel sauce (V)
- A Selection of Festive Sorbets (VE)
Those seeking an alternative to a sit-down meal can book a Festive Canapé Reception, priced at £18 for a selection of four canapes and £32 for a selection of 7 canapés. Diners can choose from a delicious selection of hot and cold canapés, including Smoked Salmon Blinis with caviar and dill cream, Spicy Tuna Tartar Avocado Cones, Wild Mushroom Arancini Lollipops (V) and Foie Gras Mousse with Yellow Wine Gelée served on brioche. For something sweeter, dessert canapés include Lemon Meringue and speculoos and a Festive Vegan Tart (VE).
Alongside brandies, whisky and bubbles, diners can accompany their festive feasts with a lovingly selected range of special Christmas Tipples. Priced at £10 per person, guests can sip on a Mulled Wine, Egg Nogg or a Hot Toddy.
After fully enjoying our Afternoon Tea, we ventured upstairs to our beautiful suite and relaxed sipping on some more festive fizz. The suite is a sight to behold. Large enough for a family of four… with adjoining rooms for larger families, it’s something special. We stayed in the Agatha Christie Room and to be honest if I could have lived there… I would in a heart beat.
Those looking to extend their festive experience at 100 Queen’s Gate can book an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s uniquely designed and spacious rooms or suites situated over six floors. Each room has been lovingly refurbished and takes inspiration from the rich history of this former Victorian period mansion. It was almost like we’d stepped into the land of Bridgerton while we were there.
Before settling in for the night though, we ventured down to the ESQ Bar to watch the football and have a few cocktails. We won’t hold England losing against 100 Queen’s gate… in fact they made the loss a lot more bearable as staff were kind and quick to offer their condolences.
Our overnight stay was absolutely lovely and we wish we could do it every night.
