Lantern Ghost Tours Haunted London Pub Walking Tour

Every Wednesday night, Lantern Ghost Tours run a Haunted London Pub Walking Tour starting outside Temple Station. We arrived at 7pm after a few drinks at the local Walkabout pub, unfortunately our guide was nowhere to be found. After a bit of a hassle for myself, my friend and two other guests, I managed to get a hold of one of the tour operators. Apparently there had been a mix up with tour guides and the miscommunication had been made. Fortunately Jennifer Melmore, one of the tour guides for the company was able to quickly come out and save the tour. I was assured this never happens and given other positive reviews on the internet, I am happy to believe that this was just a one-off occurrence.

Starting an hour late didn’t affect the tour too much and more likely helped to add to the atmosphere as by this stage darkness had settled in. This created a perfect atmosphere for the spooky Haunted Pub Tour that we were about to embark on. Visiting three of London’s haunted pubs over a two hour, 2 Kilometre walk was fascinating and had me intrigued. We were promised that during the tour we would ‘discover murder most foul, the address of Sweeney Todd, public executions gone wrong, poltergeists, witch hunts, grave robbers and Harry Potter. Hear of England’s worst serial killer and end the evening in the spine chilling cells of a Victorian prison’. Despite the late start, we did receive the majority of what was promised. Jennifer kept us entertained over the two hour period she spent with us on her impromptu night as a tour guide. She informed us that she doesn’t usually run this tour, instead her main tour is a spooky Paranormal Activity Tour where guests get to try out the equipment used by professional ghost hunters. Jennifer’s theatrical storytelling and knowledge of history kept me hanging on to every word throughout our walk. I had shivers running down my spine during the course of the evening. Whether this was due to the cold, the few drinks I’d consumed along the way or something more sinister, I may never know.

So if you’re a believer in all things supernatural or you’re just after a pub crawl that’s a little different, I would recommend purchasing tickets to the Haunted Pub Crawl. At 14 pounds for the tour, it’s not going to break the bank and gives you an interesting insight into the sometimes strange and scary history of London. Lantern Tours also run a number of other ghost tours throughout London and all can be found on their website listed below.
