Dark Lips for Christmas

mac-russian-red_300

On my recent trip to Central London, it became very apparent that the dark moody colours that have been popping up in all the A/W runway collections are making their way to the lips of many fashionistas. Not only is the dark lip a bold move that can completely switch up an outfit, it works with every skin colour! What is there not to love?

Imagine wearing your LBD with MAC’s Russian Red and those killer studded heels to your work’s annual Christmas party. I promise you, Steve from accounting would have a heart attack then and there. Or a dark purple, like Rimmel London’s Amethyst Shimmer 84, for a lunch date. You will leave heads turning and that girl who always seems to mess up your order, perfecting that pumpkin spice latte in exchange for your lippy secrets. For darker skin tones, dark reds, velvet purples and even browns are easy to pull off. Fairer tones work with purples like MAC Rebel and Loreal’s Crystal Cappuccino 362. There are loads of dubes for these beautiful colours, if you feel like simply dipping a toe into the vampy pool rather than diving in, MUA’s shade 1 and 10 are great quality and colour for just £1, and if you make your way to Superdrug on Oxford Street for a wide range of high street products in all different colours.

And if you’re like me, call upon your loved ones and demand everything mentioned above as stocking fillers… Tis the season, right?
