Escape to Kings Cross this summer for Food, Film, Festivals, Fashion and Fairs

We are all looking forward to kicking back and kick starting our summer bucket list. For Londoners looking for some escapism closer to home, King’s Cross unveils a line-up of un-missable summer events. From July through to Aug, city revellers can head to this lively cultural neighbourhood for the ultimate one stop day-cation.

Featuring open-air film screenings, a live music festival, arts fair, classic cars boot sales and an array of eateries to enjoy; it’s perfect for music lovers, movie addicts, foodies, culture-seekers and vintage shoppers alike. With live DJ set’s bringing that buzzing party atmosphere, the following dates for your diaries are not to be missed.
 

The Other Art Fair – 1-4 July


Art enthusiasts no longer have to admire art from afar with the return of The Other Art Fair coming to West Handyside Canopy. Presented by Saatchi Art, the fair will showcase over 100 independent and emerging artists, across a four-day programme of scheduled events, which includes bespoke installations, tattooing as well as live DJ sets. Whether you’re buying your first piece or adding to your existing collection, discover 1,000s of unique and contemporary artworks. Staggered entry times : Admission from £9 (children are free)

 
Summer Love Screen with Everyman – 1-25 July


It’s great to see the reopening of cinema venues, we’ve really missed the collective escapism of the big screen. This July, King’s Cross’ will see the return of its free, open-air cinema situated by Granary Square. Alfresco movies viewed from the grass covered canal sides steps overlooking the idyllic Regent’s Canal; everyone is guaranteed to have the ‘best seat in the house’.
This year’s schedule features films from Everyman: expect feel-good favourites alongside long awaited blockbuster releases, as well as sports action from Wimbledon and Tour de France. New films are being announced – check here for up-to-date listings and how to book. Walk-ins are available on the day, on a first come basis.
 

Independent Label Market – 10 July


Vinyl junkie’s heads will be spinning at the sight of rare vinyl and exclusive releases, as acclaimed Independent Label Market, returns to Coal Drops Yard. Independent Label Market celebrates it’s 10th anniversary and marks it’s 30th London edition, with an all-star line-up of UK labels including 4AD, Bella Union, Brownswood, Erased Tapes and Fire. Product sampling available at the stalls, plus live DJ sets from some of the artists and labels. Pump up the volume with craft beer from London Brewer’s Market, showcasing the best of London’s diverse brewing scene.


Classic Car Boot Sale – 7th-8th August


Bargain hunters we know you missed the thrill of a treasure hunt. Wander through Granary Square, Lewis Cubitt Square and Coal Drops Yard, to find the best in vintage fashion, homeware, art and accessories. Motoring enthusiasts will put the brakes on their rummaging with the array of instagramable classic cars on display. The event will also feature workshops, live music, DJs and art, plus plenty of street food vendors creating a festival ‘vibe.


Cubitt Sessions – 11-22 August

There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere of life open-air music that brings joy and makes you feel alive. Cubbitt sessions, the electrifying, open-air live music festival is back with a bang bringing together some of the world’s finest classical, folk and jazz incl. artists from the English National Opera to immerse yourself in.
