Herman Ze German Review

IMG_7724 [530117]When I told one of my best friends in London that I was invited to Herman Ze German, her eyes lit up as she loves this restaurant and German sausages. Friday I headed down to the Charlotte Street venue and my friend declared this was the best venue yet as it’s more like a restaurant than a fast food restaurant.

Herman Ze German has released the Ze Bratmeister as part of their new menu and therefore we knew we had to try it. This roll was filled with a gluten & lactose-free Bratwurst from the Black Forrest in Germany, roasted vegetables, feta and gravy. It was promised to be grilled to perfection and served with some extra gherkins my friend requested and fries. My friend was an extremely happy girl. Even more so when she got to have the Curry-Tomato Sauce and Sauerkraut with her meal.

Now myself, as an Aussie… even an Aussie in a German restaurant, you can’t put a Chicken Schnitzel on the menu and tell me to have a sausage. So there was no contest, I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel with cheese, bacon and bbq sauce. I seriously don’t think I’ve eaten a meal so fast and I can honestly say I’ve found the best place for a home sick Aussie to have a Chicken Schnitzel. The chips and salad served with this was an extra special bonus and the potato salad was something else. I love a good potato salad and while this was less creamy than I’m used to, it was delicious.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Margarita and Cuba Libres, we washed our delicious meals down with and would have been happy to spend the rest of the evening drinking in an absolutely lovely environment. The service we had on Friday the 9th of September was fabulous. The staff happily told us the story of Herman Ze German and their humble beginnings. There are now three Herman Ze Germans in London Villiers Street, Old Compton Street and Charlotte Street to visit and Friday night proved that ‘their wurst really is ze best’!
For the finest German food in London, head down to one of the three Herman Ze Germans in London and try the Ze Bratmiester or one of the other delicious dishes on the menu for yourself.
