Review: Madison

The other Sunday we were treated to a beautiful sky line with an iconic view of the city, which included the Shard and the Walkie Talkie building at Madison’s Roof Top Bar and Restaurant in St Pauls.

Too start we had the oxtail fritters and fresh scallops, the oxtail was crisp on the outside and succulent on the inside, served on a bed of kohlrabi with diced apple and a sharp beetroot ketchup. The scallops where in a league of their own, fresh and delicate with an impressive presentation, served in a giant shell with cauliflower puree, vanilla vinaigrette and leek.

As it was Sunday the day of rest and roast dinners, we choose the 35 day aged USA sirloin and the roast chicken, both perfectly accompanied with roasties, giant Yorkshire puddings, and a rich gravy with caramelised onions, we were greeted with a very generous portion, so generous that we almost had to skip dessert! Almost…

Too finish off we indulged in a bitter chocolate & praline fondant which could break hearts, served with vanilla ice cream. The fondant was moist and rich, the perfect ending to our Sunday lunch.

Madison is definitely worth a visit, ideal for any occasion and if you go on a Sunday, we highly recommend the roasts. If drinks is more your thing, you can hang at the bar at the rooftop terrace and admire the view of London, whilst drinking till your hearts content.
