Hospitality Gin Review

Wanting to try a new gin while supporting the hospitality industry? Look no further than Hospitality Gin, who have both a Charity Dry as well as a Pineapple + Pepper gin for those more adventurous.

Hospitality Gin Charity Dry is made using local lavender and honey, lemongrass, cardamom cumin and juniper. There’s a strong juniper core balanced with fragrant lemongrass and hint of honey. It’s a solid choice for a great classic g&t, which we very much enjoyed. For something a little extra, you could pair with a sprig of mint. We are sure this bold gin will work well in a Negroni or Martini.

Hospitality Gin Pineapple + Pepper is the first and so far only gin in the new Bartender Series. The aim of the series is to showcase unconventional flavour combination and inspire creativity.

As one would expect, freeze-dried pineapple, green bell peppers and pink pepper corn are at the heart of this gin. Juniper, lemon, thyme, orris root, orange blossom and orange peel enhance the flavours. These ingredients mean we journey from an earthy tone of juniper and bell peppers, to the tropical aromas of pineapple, orange and lemon, finishing with a sherbet feel from the pink peppercorns. A crisp gin, it goes deliciously well in a gin and tonic. If you have some citrus fruits available, add them in to enhance the flavour.

The name of the brand comes from founder Tom Lord’s wish to create a not-for-profit spirit brand to help alleviate the impacts of Covid pandemic on the hospitality industry. Amazingly, within two weeks of having the idea, the first bottles were ordered, shortly after that they were hand-distilled at Cooper King Distillery in Yorkshire, and by day 55 the first bottles were with customers. A crowdfunding page was set up in May 2020 to sell the first batch and now Hospitality Gin is now on its third batch showing how successful it has become in such a short space of time. Like the name suggests Hospitality Gin gives 100% of the profits from its original Charity Dry to The Drinks Trust and Hospitality Action, who have already given over £750,000 in grants to hospitality staff impacted by Covid. Hospitality gin really is a gin with a purpose. We couldn’t agree more with the company motto: Drink Great Gin. Make A Difference.

It is fitting that the label for the Pineapple + Pepper gin features pineapples, not only due to it being an illustration of the ingredients but given pineapple is a historic symbol of hospitality. Both bottles feature black labels with white writing and green images, making a very stylish bottle.

Hospitality Gin and Hospitality Gin Pineapple + Pepper are available from the company website. Both gins retail for £30 for 50cl or £38 for 70cl (42% ABV). They are also available through online and local retailers.
