Interior Edit: Bedroom essentials from DUSK

Welcome to On In London’s lifestyle edit: where we review fashion, beauty and interior products, giving an honest view on the quality and price of everyday items from top brands.

This week, our focus is on bedroom essentials.

The bedroom is often neglected when it comes to interior design, with people reluctant to splash the cash on a space that isn’t on show for guests – but it’s actually one of the most important rooms in your home.

By creating a relaxing atmosphere, you are more likely to be able to switch off and have a good night’s sleep.

With that in mind, we tried two items from DUSK, a retailer that specialises in luxury bedding, throws and pillowcases, including the Marseille duvet cover set in grey and the St Ives blanket in charcoal.

Let’s start with the set, which is 600 thread count (total number of yarns per square inch of fabric) and made from Egyptian cotton.

Here’s the basic rule: the higher the thread count, the softer the fabric.

As someone who was converted into luxury bedding years ago (thank you to my ex) a decent thread count is imperative when I buy new sheets (my usual set is over 1,000), which is why I was unsure if Marseille’s 600 would be enough.

I’m happy to confirm that this set is not only stylish, with its pink tuck details on its Oxford borders on both the duvet and pillows, but it is also super soft, and a great introductory set for people who haven’t enjoyed the comforts of a higher thread count in the past.

If, like me, you’re a bed linen snob, the fabric might feel a little itchy – so try the Kensington or Pimlico collections instead (they go up to 800 thread count).

The Marseille set is definitely value for money, priced at £107.00, but you’re in luck, as it’s currently on sale at £64.20 – making this bed linen an absolute steal.

Next up, the throw.

In short, I am in love with the St Ives blanket.

The charcoal colour speaks to my minimalist design heart and Scandi background, while the heavy feel of the chunky knit makes me feel safe and cosy, giving me a feeling similar to that of weighted blankets (used to improve sleep and lower stress levels).

It is the perfect throw for winter nights to come.

Be careful not to pull too hard at the threads, though and note that this is not a product suitable for children.

If charcoal isn’t your shade, the St Ives also comes in pink and light grey.

The only negative aspect is that, at £117.00, the throw is quite expensive – and I’m not entirely sure it’s worth that much.

But it doesn’t actually matter, as this product is also currently on sale for £70.20, which is a much more suitable, and affordable, price.
