Perfectly In Tune With Its 1920’s History
Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Launches its Jazz Afternoon Tea

To celebrate International Jazz Day on the 30th April, as part of their year of celebration to mark their 90th anniversary the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane have designed a limited-edition Jazz themed afternoon tea. International Jazz Day, now in its sixth year, is a day designated by UNESCO to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people together from all corners of the globe. Bringing to life the history and heritage of Jazz through the sights and sounds of the 1920’s, the Jazz Afternoon Tea will be ornately presented in the newly refurbished Palm Court at the heart of the hotel, accompanied by live music performances inspired by Jazz’s golden era, when the hotel first opened its doors. Available for only 90 days, the tea will launch on International Jazz Day itself.

Each weekend throughout this period, established musicians from London’s world-class Jazz scene will provide the backdrop to this quintessentially British past-time. Performing a mix of classic and modern jazz, the music will complement the Art Deco design of the recently renovated hotel, transporting guests back to the Roaring Twenties. The Palm Court, situated in the heart of the hotel, is the ideal setting for the culinary experience, as it has been dedicated to the British ceremony of Afternoon Tea since the hotel first opened in 1927. Back then, the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane was an original hangout for the Bright Young things of Mayfair, and is one of the best examples of original Art Deco design and architecture in London today.

The Jazz Afternoon Tea experience has been carefully orchestrated to provide a treat for the eyes, ears and taste buds. A delicious chocolate tart with basil lime ganache is topped with a musical note, while Sable Breton, honey mousse, saffron crème and blackberry gêlée combine to create an edible saxophone, and a coconut dacquoise with Cara Crakine, piña colada crème and tropical compote is topped off with a delicate chocolate sheet of music. Finally, a rich red velvet cake with orange butter completes the symphony of pastries that are sure to hit all of the right notes. In addition, a selection of handmade sandwiches is served alongside plain and raisin scones with a duet of seasonal preserves and clotted cream.. The afternoon tea is offered with your choice of classic tea or raare & single estate tea, with the option to add champagne.

The Jazz Afternoon Tea will be served daily from Friday to Sunday until 30 July in the hotel’s iconic Palm Court with prices starting from £39 per person. The Jazz musicians will play from Friday to Sunday, with afternoon tea from Monday to Thursday accompanied by our regular harpist playing a selection of jazz-inspired songs.
