Just for Laughs

Just for Laughs-8715, 49686

From the 13th of July until the 24th of July, Just for laughs London brought to you by the creators of the world’s most famous comedy festival Just For Laughs in Montreal has made its home in Russell Square, Logan Hall and The Mix. The centre of Russell Square will also be open daily as a free festival of street performers, magicians and art installations. Numerous street food vendors are also providing guests with plenty to keep their bellies full before or after the shows.

Russell square is a great venue and reminded this Aussie in London of the Adelaide Fringe Festival. I was lucky enough to see a gala performance on the 13th of July 2016 from top comedians, magicians and dance troupes such as Hyprov, Piff the Magic Dragon, Swing Patrol, Keith Farnan, Papa CJ, Champions of Magic which was MC’d by Andrew Maxwell. The acts were absolutely brilliant, Andrew Maxwell kept the crowd entertained between acts and my insides hurting from laughing so much. Highlights of the evening included Piff the Magic Dragon and Champions of Magic performing humorous magic tricks that had me spellbound.

Guests at the press launch were also treated to a full performance of Hyprov after the gala performance. I for one was glad I was wearing waterproof mascara and makeup setting spray, because Improv legend, Colin Mochrie and top hypnotists, Asad Mecci had my face covered in tears of laughter. Whether or not you believe in hypnotism, this one hour stage show is one that I can’t recommend booking in to see.
