Kricket Open Malay Inspired Popup With Malaysia Airlines
The founders of acclaimed modern Indian eateries Kricket will open a Malay-inspired restaurant in Spitalfields for just four days from the 26th– 30th November 2019. The pop-up restaurant is the result of a culinary expedition to the vibrant cities of Kuala Lumpur and Penang in partnership with Malaysia Airlines.
The Malaysia Airlines Taste Tour pop-up will be open for just four days and will feature a one-off menu by chef and restaurateur Will Bowlby, revealing a new perspective on the tastes and traditions of Malaysian cuisine. With three sittings per day – one lunch and two evening – the set menus will bring a fresh, modern twist to Malaysia’s most celebrated flavours and coveted dishes such as Roti Canai, Nasi Lemak and Nyonya Fried Chicken.
Earlier in November chef Will Bowlby and restaurateur Rik Campbell embarked on a culinary journey to Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur and the cultural melting pot that is Penang, known for a diverse mix of traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Peranakan street food. Now back on our shores, Will Bowlby will create a one-off tasting menu inspired by their travels, exclusive to the Malaysia Airlines Taste Tour restaurant.
Kricket is a collection of India inspired restaurants that combine British ingredients with the flavours and aromas of India. Since opening in the form of a 20-seat Brixton shipping container the acclaimed restaurateurs have gone on to launch permanent restaurants in Soho, Brixton and White City.
Hosted by Malaysia Airlines, in partnership with tourism boards, Tourism Malaysia, Penang Global Tourism, travel partner Flight Centre and hotels, Traders Kuala Lumpur and Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Will and Rik explored the very best that Malaysian cuisine has to offer – visiting street markets, spice gardens, fishing villages and traditional farms, as well as cooking alongside some of the most respected fine-dining chefs in Malaysia, gathering inspiration for the Taste Tour menu.
Not only will guests enjoy a unique and exclusive dining experience, but Malaysia Airlines is also giving away a pair of Business Class flights to Penang including a 5* stay at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang every day.
