Lumiere Light Festival reimagines London’s streets

London is once again hosting the UK’s largest light festival ‘Lumiere London’ and we are pleased to inform you that the installations are now up and running. Numerous UK and international artists have transformed London’s streets into an outdoor nocturnal art exhibition, offering audiences the chance to admire a selection of glowing installations on streets and landmarks across the city. The installations can be found in King’s Cross, Fitzrovia, Mayfair, London’s West End, Westminster and Victoria and Southbank and Waterloo.

Some of the many intriguing installations included in the Light Festival can be found here:

ST JAMES’S CHURCHYARD

Tracy Emin’s neon work ‘Be Faithful to Your Dreams’ uses neon to illuminate feelings in a sentence. The way she has translated her handwriting into blown and bent neon tubing is so effective.

CARNABY STREET

Head to Ganton Street to view the 51 oversized Light Bulbs suspended from the sky. The LED light bulbs light up in a rainbow of colours, creating a spectacular light show.

CHINATOWN LONDON

A flock of extraordinary flame coloured Flamingos will waft serenely amongst the crowds in Chinatown London, designed by the ever imaginative Jo Pocock and the Lantern Company. Have you noticed how popular flamingo motifs are lately?

GROSVENOR SQUARE, MAYFAIR

Northern Lights by Aleksandra Stratimirovic at Grosvenor Square is inspired by the enthralling experience of viewing the aurora borealis (Northern Lights), recreated in a spectacular and poetic natural light phenomenon in Grosvenor Square.

SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, MAYFAIR

South Audley Street in Mayfair will host Bough 3, a new commission by British artist and lighting designer Simon Corder – vivid tubes of fluorescent light will grow up the façade of this significant Mayfair building.

Expect to be dazzled. London’s streets and architecture have been reimagined. Let there be light!
