Onin.London Visits CitizenM Amsterdam South
Onin.London has visited CitizenM in New York but now it’s time for us to visit CitizenM Amsterdam South. Fun fact: you may see CitizenM Amsterdam South be referred to as Amsterdam Zuid… that’s because Zuid is South in Dutch!
When you check into a CitizenM hotel, you know you’re getting a seamless experience. On arrival, you’ll find computers set up to check yourself in and create your own room key. Hotel staff were there to help out, which really helped my parents and I as we’re not as technological advanced as we’d like to be.
One of CitizenM’s main selling points is that every room is the same, which makes it easier to choose which room. All rooms are designed for two adults with a XL bed, power shower, and free WiFi. At CitizenM Amsterdam South, you have the option of high or low rooms and city or garden facing rooms. Garden facing rooms, we were told are more quiet and we have to agree with them. Once in the room, everything can be controlled through an Ipad, so you can control your lighting, temperature, tv and audio controls, without having to leave the comfort of your bed. My parents and I had fun playing with the colours of the showers and controlling the two rooms we had during our stay to our perfect requirements.
Throughout the hotel, there are gorgeous pieces of art, a hotel bar which is open quite late for guests to be able to purchase drinks or room service from as well staff on hand to help you with any issues you may have. Thankfully we had none!
We mentioned the high tech nature of the hotel, and it really is high tech! Robot vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers were seen on the property and had us laughing in delight as it’s not something you see everyday!
CitizenM Amsterdam South is situated in the financial district. It’s close to public transport… in fact a short train ride and 10 minute walk from the airport. Also near by are a number of pubs and the Urban Food Market which is a must place to visit if you’re in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam is a place full of history, gorgeous buildings and canals. As well as its more exciting side in the Red Light District, so there really is something to see for every one. Staying at CitizenM Amsterdam South just made it all the more accessible and an extremely comfortable place to rest our heads after a couple busy days wandering around the beautiful city.
Breakfasts are available to add on for an extra €18.99 and include fresh pastries, cereals and hot food: bacon, eggs, breakfast potatoes and Pofferts (Dutch pancakes). We loaded up on a lot of these to keep us going throughout the day!
Check out was just a seamless as check in and took no time at all. We had one minor problem where an extra charge was added but we were able to have this sorted out really quickly. Staff really were friendly and Andrew who helped to check us had a lovely chat with my parents.
Amsterdam has two other CitizenM Hotels available so make sure you visit either of these during your next city break. You won’t forget it!
