Peroni Launch Peroni Ambra Somerset House Review
As we come into the warmer months, Somerset House terrace provides the perfect setting for the launch of Peroni’s new beverage Ambra. Since establishing in 1963, Peroni have set the standard for brewing quality with their Nastro Azzurro range, which is consumed all over the world. However, Ambra has taken a new approach to the brand, combining the Peroni we all know and love with a rare Italian fruit Chinotto – found in the Ligurian region of North West Italy – which gives a light refreshing beverage perfect for a warm summer’s afternoon.
Served over ice with a slice of orange peel is the recommended style in which the beverage should be consumed. Peroni Ambra has a unique taste found nowhere else in the world as the crisp flavour of Chinotto adds bite to the beer. The flavour reminded me of the taste of grapefruit and if you’re a fan of Gin & Tonic you will no doubt love Ambra.
On Launch night Peroni outdid themselves, providing a taste of Italy with a view to die for. Upon entering the tent you are whisked away to the Chinotto orchard region of North West Italy with the aroma of orange emanating from the candles and the vines hanging throughout the venue.
The main event is the bar hosting numerous fridges of Peroni Ambra on show and bar staff churning out the Ambra beverages on ice with an orange peel.
Secondly was the giant wood-fire pizza oven producing Francesco Mazzei’s masterpiece range of pizzas. The giant roll of parmesan was one of my personal favourites and the appertisers distributed by the wait staff throughout the night delivered some of the Italian favourites such as prosciutto, salami and more cheese, each as delicious as the previous.
Italy is my favourite country in Europe so far and to experience a taste of Italy in my home town of London was a delightful experience. I was so absorbed in the night I even ordered in Italian as it just felt like the right thing to do. Peroni Ambra is a drink I will definitely go back to on a warm summertime afternoon in the park.
Somerset House terrace will be the host of this six month Peroni Ambra launch taking us right through the warmer months till the end of September. So I will definitely be returning throughout the coming months and I recommend an evening at this divine setting for an even more divine beverage.
