Reader’s Retreat Suite & Supper Club with Emily Rhodes

Meliá White House is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with renowned literary curator, writer and London charity founder Emily Rhodes.

Emily has curated a “Reader’s Retreat” bookable suite, offering guests staying at the hotel an option to immerse in her top literary picks of the autumn-winter season. Emily’s collection will be hand delivered to your room to enjoy or available to read in The Level Lounge, ongoing from November. The Level Lounge is London’s first members-style service, serving tapas, snacks and drinks throughout the day.

To celebrate, there will be a Supper Club on 20th November from 7PM. Guests will enjoy three- courses and drinks from the in-house Arado restaurant. The menu is crafted with seasonal dishes from local sources with a Mediterranean twist, a nod to Meliá’s heritage. There will be delicious canapés and sharing starters before your choice of main and desert. Vegan options are also available.

I’m already looking forward to the food. From the  Truffled Brie & Plum Chutney Bruschetta, to the Grilled Octopus with Chimichurri Sauce or 24 hour Smoked Short Ribs with Tamarind & Pomegranate Glaze and Porcini mushroom arancini. For mains I’ll have Beef Wellington served with a warming Dauphinoise Potato, roasted baby vegetables, carrot puree, wild mushrooms & red wine jus. Guests can also choose from the Duo of Black Cod with Confit peas, clams, sea asparagus and burnt leek puree with a seafood bisque sauce or Pecan Nut Roast, paired with Beluga lentil, chestnut mushroom, cheddar cheese, port & cranberry jus. For desert I’m thinking the Sticky Toffee Pudding with pistachio ice-cream and caramel sauce. Or there’s Christmas Pudding with brandy sauce and fresh berries or a Petit Four with Mince Pie, or Vegan Cheesecake.

Guests will be able to dive into conversation with Emily about their favourite reads. Guests will also have a chance to ask Emily questions about her brilliant career as a lead by female writer, journalist, host of Emily’s Walking Book Club and Founder of Bookbanks, a London-based charity delivering books to food banks.

Meliá White House is part of Meliá Hotels International. The hotel, residing within a 1930s Grade II listed building in the heart of London, has recently been renovated and transformed its largest and most luxurious Level rooms and suites into a poetic paradise for book-lovers and culture enthusiasts to enjoy and unwind. The Reader’s Retreat will feature an eclectic selection of handpicked books reflecting the essence of Meliá White House and the local area. Each guest staying in the Reader’s Retreat suite will receive a personalised invitation to join Emily’s Walking Book club, alongside a community of literary enthusiasts from across the world.
