Smok’d Review
We were invited to review Smok’d at The Brittania – a modern British barbecue restaurant in a cute little pub in London Bridge.
Spoiled for choice with such a tempting menu, we had to try a bit of everything…
To start, we had the Buffalo Cauliflower, served with a garlic aioli and topped with sesame seeds. Other starters on the menu included mac and cheese nuggets, pan fried king prawns and a small rack of ribs.
Meat lovers and BBQ fans will be delighted with the options of burgers and barbecued meats and we opted for a chicken burger, filled with nacho cheese and tortilla chips and two small portions of chicken wings – one barbecue and one ranch flavour.
I also loved the selection of sides and was torn between the options, including Asian slaw, halloumi fries and sweet potato wedges. We ended up ordering the onion rings and skinny fries, which were the perfect accompaniment to our BBQ dishes.
My favourite dish of the meal had to be the char grilled corn – it was beautifully barbecued, smothered in a sweet chilli sauce and unlike any corn on the cob I’d ever had before. A game changer for BBQ season!
Whilst I like a bit of spice and everything had a nice kick to it, I definitely needed a cocktail to wash it all down, so I opted for a Slut Dragon; a combination of Gin, Strawberry Gin, apple juice, cranberry juice, raspberries and elderflower.
After tucking into so many dishes, I sadly didn’t have space for dessert, but the cocktail was a nice, sweet treat to complete the meal.
For BBQ lovers, Smok’d is a must-visit and they monthly burger specials on their menu as well as live music and events every month.
