Sunday roast box from Jimmy Garcia

DIY food kits are popping up all over the place, and its changing the the home cooking game for the better!

The food party boxes from Jimmy Garcia have been getting a lot of attention, all the ingredients you need to cook up a storm, you can order a BBQ club hamper, Wine, cheese and charcuterie box, fondue box, pizza box and even a Sunday roast box.

Nothing beats ordering a Sunday roast in a pub with all the trimmings, but we are living in uncertain times right now, and there is a lot of people who prefer dining indoors, but why should they miss out… Buying the ingredients, seasoning the chicken and vegetables and then figuring out the cooking times, is enough to frazzle any brain.

So when offered the chance to receive a Sunday roast box from Jimmy Garcia to try out of course I jumped at the chance. I went for the chicken option, but there is also pork belly, cote de Boeuf or beetroot wellington to choose from.

Inside the box, you will find cooking instructions and the following ingredients: truffled cauliflower and leek gratin, chicken, trimmed carrots and parsnips, mixed seasonal greens, peeled and blanched roast potatoes, gravy, thyme and sage fresh stuffing and two yorkshire puddings.

Of course you can add anything else to your meal, we added some basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, lemon and butter to the chicken, to give it extra flavour. There is enough ingredients for two plates, so if you are cooking for more people, I would pick up some extra vegetables.

The potatoes and carrots included are well seasoned and they have a nice sweet twang to them, the chicken was fresh and good quality meat, a real highlight of the meal .

This was the easiest roast I’ve made and I must say damn tasty! More so than I expected, I was chuffed with the results! You can order one of these boxes, add additional greens and impress the socks off your family one given Sunday, lets face it, we all deserve a treat!
