Sustainable Grab & Go Concept Restaurant Embr Kitchen Launches in May

Embr Restaurant, Chef Dougy Robertson

For the last month, Embr Kitchen have been offering hungry Londoners a sneak peek of its dishes for lunch and dinner via Deliveroo, and is now getting geared up to open its very first restaurant in Soho in May.

The new grab and go concept restaurant will combine British ingredients and Brazilian flavours with Scandinavian cooking techniques offering up what sounds like a delicious and sustainable menu.

Founder and head chef Dougy Robertson has ethically sourced healthy and fresh ingredients for all his dishes. Seasonality is key and we’re told the menu is comprised of all in one bowls made up of only seasonal produce. The current dishes (only available on Deliveroo until May) include:

  • Farm Bowl – £8.50
    • Goat, dirty roast salad, green and grain salad with a roast garlic yoghurt
  • Country Bowl (dairy free) – £8.50
  • Pheasant, green and grain salad, Swedish pickle slaw and chimichurri
  • The EMBR (Gluten Free) – £8.50
  • Venison (served medium rare), Brazilian black bean stew, Swedish pickled slaw and tarragon
  • Veg Patch (Gluten free) – £8.50
  • Roast squash, Brazilian black bean stew, dirty roast salad and a roast garlic yoghurt

Dougy’s passion for sustainability continues beyond his ingredients. From farm to fork and back to the farm, everything is recycled, reused or composted to relieve the impact that food production can have on the environment. He prepares his produce in such a way that minimises food wastage and will only work with suppliers who adhere to specific waste disposal criteria.

He also cooks all his meat and most of his vegetables over charcoal, which we’re told is an extremely healthy way of cooking, as it renders a lot of the fat out of the meat and doesn’t require the use of excess oils – winning.

It sounds like an impressive amount of care and dedication has been given to every part of this new dining spot, from the seasonality to the sustainability, which makes it one to add to the list. We’re looking forward to seeing if the taste is equally as impressive, with one eye firmly on that goat farm bowl.
