Sweet Couture – Covent Garden’s hidden sweet spot

sweet coutoureAt the weekend Covent Garden’s piazza is always buzzing. Sometimes a little TOO overwhelmingly busy. So if you’re looking for a coffee and some exceedingly good cake, why not head to Sweet Couture on New Row.

I was in the mood for cake. Something sweet and sickly with lots of icing. I set off on the prowl for a non major chain establishment.
They enticed me with mini samples, after that I was sold
.

My choice? Was a delicious Red Velvet cake.

It was a good one.

Okay because it was my day off I was rather cheeky, the cafe is quite small. So I grabbed myself a slice then maaaay have popped into Costa opposite for a hot choc (hot choc, soya & gingerbread syrup), but mainly for a really comfy seat…. But the cake was divine. Moist, it had like pockets of goo. Then was gathered in think buttercream icing. I have to admit I think that’s the best slice of cake I’ve had in yonks, no joke.

I thoroughly enjoyed it while reading my Waitrose magazine (I do a shop there now and again, so I now count myself as ‘posh’). My head of for a stroll in Chelsea with my flat cap now…….

Bonus it only cost me £2.50! Which for London is really cheap!! Plus the lady in there was super nice. I’ll be going again AND recommending it. As it’s just a stone throw away from Cov G it a little quiet which is a shame as the cakes haven’t yet got the appreciation they deserve!

So now as I write this sitting in some sort of sugar coma, I hope that you guys manage to find a little time to head off the Covent Garden beaten track and pop into Sweet Couture.
