The Athenian Launches in London Bridge in August
Holidaymakers will be pleased to hear that from 15th July restrictions have been eased to allow travel to Greece. However those of us opting for a staycation can still take our tastebuds on a tour of the Mediterranean. From August 26th the popular foodie favourite, The Athenian will be bringing their authentic Greek street food to the heart of London Bridge.
Continuing its tradition for naming each site after a vibrant Athens neighbourhood, the new site will be called Mikrolimano after a district in Piraeus. Incorporating carefully sourced regional ingredients; the menu will showcase modern twists on traditional recipes; dishes slathered in tantalizing marinades, bursting with aromatic herby flavours accompanied by zingy dips and sauces.
Expect their signature Souvlaki and Gyros with no compromises made on their vegetarian and vegan options. Mouthwatering delights include hand skewered, marinated grilled meat or halloumi wrapped in warm fluffy pitas, served with oregano-flecked fries, Santorini tomato croquettes and a refreshing Greek salad. Vegans can enjoy gyros–shavings of seitan marinated in herbs, lemon juice and olive served with vegan mayonnaise, aubergine dip with a side of courgette fritters or vegan loaded gyro fries.
Located within the arches of the station on St Thomas Street, The Athenian will be the perfect place for a ‘pit-ta stop’, to grab a quick lunch or enjoy a light snack with a selection of Greek wines and craft beers sourced from small, independent producers. The Athenian brings to you a safe authentic Mediterranean food experience, now all we need is another mini heatwave!
