The Grill On The Market Review

LV_Market_NewExteriorYou know a restaurant is going to be good when you’re friends tell you to visit. So I had high expectations for The Grill on the Market. I wasn’t disappointed. I arrived earlier than my friend so it was time to enjoy the two for one cocktail for Happy Hour. The Raspberry & Mint Sling was my favourite and one you should add to your list of cocktails to try. Raspberries, mint, Tanqueray Gin, lemon, raspberry liqueur and tonic water. Definitely a summer go-to drink.Butcher's Block

The food at The Grill is predominately a meat eater’s paradise, with various different steak cuts ranging from classic Australian Rump to the more elite Wagu Fillet. Our waiter helpfully explained about the different cuts and what they meant. Pretty impressive that he could remember all the different meats without looking at the menu. We both weren’t in the mood for steak but this will be a place, I’ll return to try some premium steaks in the future.
The starters that caught our eyes were the Sesame coated chicken skewers with a divine peanut & coconut dip and the Piri Piri Calamari with Saffron mayonnaise. Simple but great starters with lots of flavour and a great way to start our meal.

When our mains did arrive, they were huge so our eyes nearly jumped out of their sockets. A Whole Baked Seabass Fillet Wrapped in lettuce leaf, stuffed with pearl barley cous cous & oven baked, served with choron sauce for my friend. Myself I went a little more classic with a Wagyu Beef Burger. You can very rarely go wrong with a burger and this one hit the spot.P10278 Blackhouse Food 169_1-Final Web Res JPG

Of course when it comes to dessert, you have to have the Sticky Toffee Pudding with ice-cream. It’s an English classic for a reason. With gooey toffee sauce, a moist pudding and creamy ice-cream, it was the perfect way to end an enjoyable evening.Interior LR

With live music playing in the background and a busy restaurant, it was sometimes hard to hear but with the friendly and positive atmosphere we really didn’t mind. It helped that staff were super friendly to all diners and that we were enjoying the cocktails with our meal. Make sure you head down to The Grill On The Market to try the food and cocktails, you’re not going to be disappointed.
