The Perfect Family Holiday

It’s that time of year when many people will be dreaming and planning their holidays for the year. For us we have just had our main family holiday of the year and it was perfect.

We didn’t go abroad and face the headache of entertaining the children at the airport or on the plane…instead we headed to Cornwall, the most beautiful place in the UK.

For us holidays are all about the children and making sure they have memories that will last a lifetime so this holiday was all about them and for this we visited a place called Coombe Mill which is located around the Bodmin moors.

Coombe Mill is a real working farm which is looked after and cared for by a very friendly family headed up by Farmer Nick and Farmer Fiona. Everything there is aimed at entertaining the children and making them feel involved.

The accommodation caters for all needs from the Riverside Lodges to the Cottages and they also have the most luxurious Scandinavian Lodges. This holiday we stayed in a three bedroom cottage which was truly huge and would easily sleep 6 people. The cottage is also fitted out with everything you could want from the washing facilities, two bathrooms, dining area and even private patio area.

For us though the true selling point is the morning feed run. Every morning at 9am the farmer tractor pulls up and all the children sit on the trailer and the farmers and children head off around the farm to feed the animals such as the goats, sheep, chickens, pigs, deers and rabbits. Often getting in with the animals and really helping to look after the animals and you can see the enjoyment in the children’s eyes.

During the stay at Coombe Mill you are free to explore the farm as and when you like and within the farm grounds you’ll also find 3 different play areas, an indoor play area, a little shop with the essentials, a gym and a newly installed mini railway for the children to ride every evening at 5pm.

Of course there will be times when you’ll want to visit other parts of Cornwall and within a 45 minute drive you have things like Newquay, Padstow, The Eden Project, and on top of all of this you’ll find the best beaches the UK has to offer in within a short drive.

It really is the perfect family holiday and I can’t stress enough just how friendly the family are, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and with the other families also on holiday there the children really won’t get bored no matter what age.
