The Spa Of Unconscious Desires Review

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to try something a little different in the way of spa treatments. Bompas and Parr teamed up with Mondrian Hotels to present a once off experience. The spa of Unconscious Desires. It’s designed to push the boundaries between comfort, fear and disgust. Whilst receiving a beauty treatment.

We received cocktails and a tasty bite to eat whilst waiting to get our nails done. I felt like a kid again when my tongue turned blue from the cake. My mood of the night was to be a little adventurous in my colour selections, opting for royal blue nails. Bold I know! I loved the colour. It isn’t something I usually go for, but I was quite happy with the results. It has given me the urge to paint my nails more and using brighter bolder colours. It brightens up your mood a little. I need to add a bit more colour in my life!

Shamanic Egg Healing was quite a relaxing option. As a group, we all came together to the central area to take part in the practice. Using an egg, we had to think of something that may be troubling us. Something we want to let go of. Stress, fear, a pain etc. Then we had to push that feeling into the egg, moving it along our body to release it from us. At the end we were able to break the egg into a bowl. This is a technique which has been used for centuries to rid the body of unwanted toxins.
Magma massage sounded delightful. Unfortunately I was unable to secure a spot due to the popularity. Instead I went with the shadow wrap. I was a little confused with what this was. Being cocooned in a whole body wrap sounded like what I needed. All while listening to an immersive monologue. During the monologue we were to receive a muscle melting scalp treatment.’

I ended up sitting on a chair with a cloth over my eyes and the headphones placed over my ears. The lady, I’m assuming, forgot to actually play the monologue as I heard nothing.

The neck and scalp massage was exactly what I needed. Especially seeing as I had a headache drilling into the back of my head. It helped me to relax, and relieve some of that pressure from the headache. I enjoyed it overall. Even if I was missing half of what was on offer.

Being able to have a night of pampering was a great way to wind down from a busy day at work. Something I won’t often do for myself. I should be adding it to my life because once in a while it’s nice to stop and relax and listen to our body’s needs. Don’t over-do it. Enjoy a little pampering, even if it’s a little different from the norm.

The Spa of Unconscious Experience cost £80.00 and was on the 19th of September. Hopefully Bompas and Parr will bring it back. It’s well worth it.
