Tootoomoo Bottomless Brunches

Tootoomoo Islington

Bottomless brunches have just had an exciting makeover by Tootoomoo, with an audacious menu that combines Malaysian, Chinese, Japenese, Thai and Vietnamese. Tootoomoo has achieved the perfect pan-Asian fusion food, top this with bottomless drinks and food and it was a must ‘eat’ for us. In good old food loving fashion, we hotfooted it down to the Angel Islington branch.

First things first, I had better explain how the menu works. Forget the old bottomless brunch where you get your fill of booze alone. The Tootoomoo bottomless brunch takes us one step further offering bottomless all you can eat food to order. Diners can pay for 1.5 hours of food and drink for £35 or opt for the food only menu for £30. If that’s not long enough then there is a 2 hour option for £45 for food and drink or £40 for just food. The clock starts ticking from the moment you make your first order and ends roughly 15 mins before the end of your time. Diners can eat or drink anything they want and order as many times as they want during that time, sounds exhausting right! The only catch is that before you can order the next set of food or drinks you have to finish what is on your table first, which I think is a great idea because it avoids food wastage.

You can order initially 3 starters from the Tootootapas menu, these are basically Pan-Asian dishes served tapas style. If there are 2 of you then that’s 6 starter dishes. We tried the prawn crackers, veggie spring rolls, chicken gyoza, tiger prawn tempura, grilled satay chicken skewers and the vegetarian potstickers. The starters were amazing and full of so many flavours they were beautifully presented too. I really enjoyed the vegetarian pot stickers, which are vegetarian dumplings both steamed and then fried, and then I fell in love with the chicken gyoza (clearly I am fan of dumplings).

Alongside your initial starters you can also order two mains with a side. I was so full from the starters I could only manage one main. Which was the Szechuan chilli beef mixed with cashews and assorted vegetables, I teamed mine with a side of rice and steamed mixed vegetables. Can I say yummy!!! The food was amazing and the beef was cooked so tenderly it was worth making room for. I couldn’t stomach a second round of food, I clearly have a small stomach but the place was bustling with people enjoying meal after meal. They were pacing themselves (clearly done this before), whereas we just stuffed our faces with everything all at once.

In relation to the drinks the menu works in the same way as the food. You can order a jug of cocktails, beer or a bottle of wine and can’t order more until you finish what you have.

All in all the bottomless brunch at Tootoomoo is tasty and also worth the money. Highly recommended and remember pace yourself.
