Udderbelly Festival London Opens

The huge pink cow has again descended on London’s Southbank, which means only one thing… The Udderbelly 8 week-long festival of comedy, circus and entertainment is here again!

I attended their press night for several hours of cocktails, canapés and a splendid brass band. There are various bars and food huts serving everything from burgers, chips to wraps and other tasty summer snacks.

The organisers of the festival opened proceedings with some speeches about what the festival has in store this year. It’s an exciting and varied line up of entertainment and it has something for anyone. Sh*t Faced Shakespeare looks set to be a hoot. This involves a serious performance of a Shakespeare play, but one cast member goes on stage totally sh… sozzled.

There are a huge number of established and emerging comedians playing including Richard Herring, Arthur Smith and Katherine Ryan. Events like Comedy in the Dark looks set to be the perfect way to spend a summer night outside in London. There are also magicians, circus acts and a whole range of acts suitable for families.

The venue is marvellous, right on the riverside minutes from Waterloo Station. The atmosphere was bustling with excitement and the open, friendly atmosphere is conducive to watching entertainment and maybe even speaking to people you don’t know. Weird for us Londoners eh?

Have a look at the line up here and get yourself down to say hello to the big purple cow.
